³Ô¹ÏÍø Medical Laboratory Technician Program Achieves Outstanding 100% Pass Rate on National Certification Examination

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (July 22, 2025) – ³Ô¹ÏÍø announces that all nine graduates from its Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Class of 2025 achieved a remarkable 100% first-time pass rate on the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) examination. 

The exceptional performance of The River’s MLT graduates significantly exceeds national benchmarks, demonstrating the program’s commitment to academic excellence and comprehensive preparation of healthcare professionals. According to the latest national data, the average first-time pass rate for MLT certification examinations is 76.96%, making The River’s achievement particularly noteworthy. 

“This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication of our students and the excellence of our faculty and curriculum,” said Dr. Heather Belmont, Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer. “These results prove our graduates are entering the workforce as skilled diagnosticians who healthcare systems can count on from their very first day.” 

The nine successful graduates completed their examinations between June 24 and July 1, 2025, with program mean scaled scores consistently above national averages across all subject areas tested. The ASCP BOC certification examination evaluates competency in critical areas including blood banking, urinalysis, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and laboratory operations.

  • 100% first-time pass rate compared to 76.96% national averageÌý
  • Program mean scaled score of 632 compared to 500 national averageÌý
  • All graduates achieved certification status, demonstrating readiness to enter the healthcare workforceÌý
  • Strong performance across all examination subject areasÌý

The Medical Laboratory Technician program at The River prepares students for careers in hospital laboratories, reference laboratories, physician office laboratories, and other healthcare facilities. MLTs perform essential diagnostic tests that help physicians diagnose, treat, and monitor patient conditions. 

“These outstanding results directly reflect our program’s commitment to rigorous academics combined with extensive clinical experience,” said Dr. Ann Hubbard, Dean. “Our graduates don’t just meet industry standards—they exceed them, bringing both deep knowledge and practical skills to healthcare teams across the region.” 

President Moore commented on the achievement, stating, “This exceptional performance demonstrates both the excellence of our Medical Laboratory Technician program and the outstanding caliber of students we attract to ³Ô¹ÏÍø. We are incredibly proud of these dedicated students and our exceptional faculty who have worked together to achieve this impressive milestone.” 

The River’s MLT program combines classroom instruction with extensive laboratory experience, providing students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for success in the field. The program maintains accreditation and adheres to national standards for medical laboratory technician education. 

The certification examination success represents not only individual student achievement but also the program’s continued commitment to producing highly qualified healthcare professionals who will serve communities throughout Florida and beyond.
