Navigating the River Student Orientation

Orientation offers a mix of academic, educational and social programming designed to prepare you for a successful college career.

August 13 and 14, 2026

Day 1: New Student Welcome

Mandatory for All New Students
Thursday, August 13, 2026
Massey Campus

Your journey at ³Ô¹ÏÍø starts here. Day 1 is required for all new students and is designed to help you feel confident, connected, and fully prepared for your first semester.

Registration Required

Day 1 attendance is mandatory.

Academic Breakout Sessions

All students will attend three required breakout sessions designed to give you clarity and direction:

  • Navigate Your First Year: Promise, Scholarships & Success at The River
    Understand financial aid, scholarships, the Promise Program, and how to start strong.
  • Student Services & Academic Resources
    Explore Learning Resources, the Help Desk, Student Support Services, the Bookstore, Student Life, and River Refresh.
  • Exploring Academic Programs
    Discover pathways aligned with your goals—whether you plan to transfer, earn a degree, or train for a career.

Plus:

  • Food trucks
  • Live DJ
  • Giveaways and River gear
  • Opportunities to meet classmates and campus leaders

This is more than orientation. It’s your first step forward.

Day 2: Get Connected & Get Started

All Campuses

Day 2 ensures you are fully logged in, connected, and ready for class.

Computer Lab Sessions

Choose one session:

  • 8:00 a.m.
  • 10:00 a.m.
  • 12:00 p.m.

SLS1501 – Online Portion

Your goal:

  • Log in to Canvas
  • Complete Module 1
  • Confirm access to all required tools

You’ll also explore campus resources and get comfortable navigating the systems you’ll use throughout the semester.

You don’t have to know everything yet. You just have to take the first step.
